Acrylic paint on canvas

50cm x 60cm

In The Cuckoo Nest, whimsy meets unease as a woman peer through crushed can lenses, her headdress a fragile nest cradling a single egg. Like the cuckoo’s cunning intrusion, the painting reflects the perimenopausal experience – a time when identity, purpose, and body are quietly rearranged. The work explores how external forces and internal shifts coexist, blurring boundaries between self and imposed expectation, humour and vulnerability, nest and imposter.
