Acrylic paint on canvas
84cm x 60cm
This work was inspired by a figure study by Iila Mashkof 1909.
Becoming Still captures a moment of quiet transformation, where movement softens into stillness and presence. The figure, rendered in earthy tones with subtle shifts of light, embodies both strength and vulnerability. Her posture suggests a pause between gestures – an inward turning a settling of energy. The textured layers of paint echo this sense of transition, revealing both depth and impermanence. This piece speaks to the universal experience of returning to oneself- finding stillness not as an end, but as an arrival, a place where the self can rest, expand, and quietly transform.
