Acrylic paint on canvas

50cm x 50cm

It didn't stay-

light rarely does.

it wandered through the trees,

welcome, settling briefly

as though it had somewhere better to be.

The trees didn't mind

they hold their shapes,

stretch their shadows,

carry on as if nothing passed.

But the ground gives it away-

a softness, a glow,

a quiet refusal to forget.

I come back sometimes,

Stand in the middle of it,

as if memory were a place.
